Artist's Statement...

“It’s rewarding to create a body of shared sights.  I am grateful to be able to share what I see in that moment I capture an image; if something stops me in my tracks, maybe it will do the same for you … wondering what is puzzling the gondolier, grasping the geometry in the Majorelle Garden’s palm fronds and doorways, recording the moment in time when grapes are perfectly ripe for harvesting and the fog does not obscure the reflection of the Golden Gate bridge."

"It’s tempting for me to say that my work is simple, straightforward, “what you see is what you get” photography.  It stands well on its own, with no further expectations.  For me, however, the “capture” of the photo is just the beginning.  I’m excited about where the imagination, mine and the viewer’s, will take it from there.  It is my firm belief that what is seen can also be enhanced, so that egrets and zebras become “old world images” through Polaroid transfer techniques and orchids “blossom” when introduced to digital manipulation.  And, if that enhancement sparks someone’s imagination, then I’ve added a unique value to my images.”
